The Trucks of the 2026 Red Power Round Up
I attended the Red Power Round Up in Huron, SD this year, and was darn glad I did. Located in the middle of the East River half of the state, Huron may not be a slam-dunk to get to (the nearest freeway – I-90 – is 52 miles away), but the turnout of tractors, trucks, a host of IHC made products, and attendees was quite good. Despite some light drizzle early on Friday, even Ma Nature was generally cooperative. The track record of a previous RPRU being here also helped bring in folks, knowing it was a good venue and well organized.
While an IHCC event, conducted by South Dakota Chapter 21, the truck section was run with their blessing by the South Dakota IH Scout and Truck Club, and they did an excellent job organizing and promoting it. They had hoped to get 250 trucks to the show, promoting it as “250 for 250,” but thanks to the recent instability in fuel prices, they came just twenty trucks short of their goal. Still, getting 230 trucks to a tractor-heavy Red Power Round Up is quite a feat.
