Year-A-Round Cabs And IH Tractors

The Year-A-Round Corporation of Mankato, MN was started in 1969. The owner and company founder was Merton Anderson. Year-A-Round (Y-A-R) became a major manufacturer of aftermarket tractor cabs for many brands of tractors. The basic cab model that Y-A-R sold was called the QT-1. This was sometimes called the “Quiet One,” but its sound deadening capabilities were not as great as some of the OEM factory installed cabs of the time. In the early 1970’s, Y-A-R was one of the first major corporate sponsors of tractor pulling with the N.T.P.A. (National Tractor Pullers Association). It’s ironic that in a sport where cabs have no use (they were removed to allow tractors to pull in lighter weight classes and to allow more moveable weights) that a tractor cab company would get involved. The Y-A-R cab became the “official cab” of the NTPA. A title it still holds today. In fact, on the side of every Y-A-R cab (above the door) is the NTPA decal with “Official Cab” printed on it.
